- Leads Generation and Search Engine Optimization
Leads Generation
When it comes to leads generation often telesales is the way most businesses go, however with the ever growing use of the internet most people will do a Google search to find what they are looking for, and let’s face it nobody likes to be contacted about something they don’t need. So why not capitalize on this and consider using the internet to generate leads for your business?
There are a few ways to generate leads online. One way is get a website created with an area on your site where a customer can leave their details. Then use Adwords to drive traffic to your site. This is a very effective way as you can set your budget for each day and rank very high very quickly. The downside to this is that it is a short term solution; as once you stop your Adwords campaign your site will no longer rank high so you need to consider this as an ongoing cost.
Another way would be to consider using SEO (search engine optimization) this method is used to rank on Google organically which means Google will rank you the highest in your target market depending on a number of set criteria your website has to meet. This method is very time consuming but is the most cost effective and the long term benefits are huge as the amount of traffic a number one ranking site can achieve in a particular market is massive.
You should discuss this with you web designer as to the best solution for you as most web site developers offer an Adwords and/or SEO service.

- Web Development Process
The web development process can be an extremely frustrating back and forth struggle if things are not made clear early on in the build.
Thames is currently working on a web build for the the client EMG, and the development is going extremely well. There are a number of reasons for this;
Firstly and most importantly the client has had a clear understanding of the process involved in the building of a website (ie Thames builds websites based on a creative brief/any relevant information the client supplies us to base the development on.) So many companies forget that although we are creative we cannot possibly create something that is liked by everyone all the time. As cliche as it sounds, it all comes down the fact that what Thames thinks is appropriate (left to its own devices with no creative brief or relevant info)may not be at what a client thinks is appropriate.
Secondly the client EMG -picked a layout design and stuck with it. And they understand that any changes thereafter may incur an additional charge. Just because it is a creative industry does not mean what we do has no monetry value. Changes take time and time is as they say 'money'.
Thirdly the client understands that they have to supply us with content. We are not experts in all areas - we couldnt possibly know what every new business wants to say on their website. We will of course inform the client of the Keywords we will be trying to rank on for SEO, and give them the ability to build keyword rich content (ie. making sure the content they add is relevant to rich with the SEO keyword.) If a client does not want the responsibility of building content, we can arrage it, however it will increase the time taken for the build and there will once again be a back and forth revision of the content. All to often clients expect us to write their content at the same price as the quoted build.
A similar thing needs to be understood with regards to adding products to an e commerce site. We will build the online store and categories within but then we will teach the client how to add their own products. We are not in the data entry industry however once again if the client would like Thames to do it, it can be arranged at additonal costs and lengthening deadlines.

- Off-Page Search Engine Optimization and the 3 key
Summary:
If playing around with coding on your website is not your thing and you feel you don’t have the knowhow to tackle the tasks of on-page SEO, then there is hope for you yet as there are three major ways to accomplish off-page SEO.
Keywords:
Off-page SEO, Search Engine Optimization, Blogging, Article Writing, Forums
Article Body:
If a website owner wishes to improve his or her website’s traffic, On-page SEO is definitely a key method for this. There is, however, a technical know-how involved to do so and not a lot of website owners are HTML enthusiasts and this is what is needed when tweaking your On-page SEO.
If however On-Page SEO was done for you by whoever built your site and now you want to know how you can contribute to this "Search Engine Goodness", Off-page optimization is the next step. One of the ways to help this is to get one-way back links to your site this is a major key in how Search Engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo view your site. There is however one key element to backlinks and that is relevancy. There is no point in having a backlink from a website that isn’t along the same lines as to what your site is about.
So how exactly do you generate backlinks? That’s the tough part as it's not an easy task but it's definitely a lot easier than coding in HTML. Here are some Off-page SEO tips:
1. Content Marketing
This comes down to the age old saying content is king the more content you have that is keyword rich and full of information the better. Everyone is hungry for fresh, quality information and if you can supply this, generating backlinks will be child’s play. It will help a lot if you are a keen writer as this will aid in making this a successful endeavour. Also, when submitting articles they should only include websites that contains information relevant to the article you submit.
2. Forum Participation
When publishing articles on certain forums they must be have topics and discussions that are relevant to your site. Your article and its content must be open, sharing and indispensable for the members of the forums. Your signature or that tag-along message at the last part of each of your posts is what will work for your off-page SEO campaign. Make sure you keep it simple and make sure that it you convey information about your website. An easy task is hyperlinking to make it easy for the people who want to visit your site.
3. Blogging
Blogs are the most popular weapon of choice for SEO experts. Aside from being easy-to-update, they don't require a too much of a formal tone, which is what many readers are into. Using informal dialog is achieved when readers leave comments. This Keeps Blogs and their content fresh and new and above all Search Engine friendly. One side note is to always have a link on your main website from your blog.
To be successful in carrying out all these Off-Page SEO techniques is to be consistent. The submission of articles at regular intervals to your Blog and website is without a doubt critical in making your site stand out from the millions out there. Forum participation will not only help you increase your website's popularity with search engines but it is a great way to educate yourself by learning from other forum members. Also, if you discover that you don't enjoy this, there's always a plan B - hire someone to do them for you!

- 5 Ways to Improve Your Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization (SEO) does not need to cost a fortune if anything for that matter. If you have time, patience and a bit of persistence you can optimize your web site for most search engines at a greatly reduced cost. This blog post outlines some of the key Search Engine Optimization methods to utilize that do not cost you anything.
1. As I am doing right now, write and submit as many keyword rich articles as possible. Articles are very useful if not the most useful way to build links to your website. All articles written by you are saved and archived in article directories, creating a large quantity of links to your website. The more articles you write the better, and the reason for this is that your articles are published by other websites; the URL to your website in your author’s box will be on all the websites you post your article on. Writing articles is not costly just time consuming, but set aside some time and write your own articles and then submit them to as many article directories as you can.
2. Create a page on your website where you post your articles. If you add new content on your website regularly, search engines will crawl your site often, and your website ranking on these search engines will increase. The key is making sure that you use your keywords and key-phrases in your websites content as well as your articles.
3. Have your own blog and blog regularly but make sure you use your keywords and phrases. You can simply sign up for own blog and start to blog right way. There are many free blogging sites like Blogger, Wordpress and Blogspot to name a few. Once you have your blog up and running create a link to your website on your blog. Blogging and adding fresh keyword rich content will make search engines crawl your blog. This process does not cost you anything. But again all you need is the time to blog.
4. Have a link building strategy that will help you build many links to other related websites. Once again this is free and will not cost you a penny. All you need to do is to contact webmasters you want to exchange links with. You can create one way links by articles submissions and forum participation and help others or share useful information.
5. This is probably the most important, be patient and follow these SEO steps consistently. As with most things Search Engine Optimization takes time to see results as your website will not rank high on search engines overnight. You will need to consistently work hard at writing articles, blogging and exchanging links so that you can see an increase in your websites popularity. Patience is the most important trait you will need if you want to succeed so don’t lose heart if things aren’t going the way you had envisioned as sooner or later all your hard work will pay off.
Follow these tips and increase your websites popularity and rank on search engines. The easier your website is to find on search engines, the more traffic your site will get.

- Search Engine Optimization Controversy
Good news is always welcome and hearing good news makes us feel good about ourselves, the people around us feel good, heck… even our dog feels the world is a better place when we have good news.
Good news might make us feel good about ourselves and the world around us but there is always something very appealing about bad news, especially if this news is about someone other than ourselves.
Bad news can be good news as bad news makes for easy marketing. I once watched an interview with a well-known, highly controversial, singer/songwriter, and performer. The press are always full of articles and stories about this persons exploits. The interviewer asked this singer about one of their recent escapades. And the singer kindly chuckled and shyly admitted that while this had in fact happened it had been exaggerated out of proportion. When the interviewer asked why the singer did nothing to correct the allegations the music artist bluntly replied...money. Each time someone accused them of doing something awful, the public went out and started to rush to the stores to buy this artists latest CD. This is partly because this artists name was being pasted all over the news and was fresh in their minds when they perused the music department, but also partly because their parents were trying to ban this music from their houses. This is even more apparent that Bad news is good news because when he was on this artist was on their best behaviour they did not get any media attention and the record sales plummeted. So, since the singer is anything but stupid and their deep appreciation for the things money can buy, this artist goes that little bit further to create and perpetuate the bad boy image.
The Blogging group are people who understand how swiftly controversy spreads. It is common knowledge that if they write about something that is controversial there will be an influx of readers to their blogs, and these readers will leave feedback. Before you know it a dialogue has started, sometimes it isn't a peaceful dialogue but it's a dialogue just the same.
There are many similarities between websites and organic search engine optimization. Organic Search engine optimization is the art and science of making a web site appear more relevant to search engines. Search engines determine the relevancy of a website by sending out web crawlers who use their search engines algorithms to determine whether a website gets a higher rank when a user searches a particular keyword during a search.
On top of this search engines look for links, these are links that Web crawlers look for and how many links lead back to your website. A basic rule of thumb when performing Organic Search Engine Optimization is the more links leading back to your website the higher that website will rank in search engines.
Controversy is an easy way to generate a lot of links to your website and fast. For example a breeder of Gaboon pythons went to an exotic pet show to purchase some more snakes for his shop. While he was at the show the police stormed the pet show, and with great force removed several of the exhibitors. You snap several graphic images of the event, and later you post the photos on your website. As it would be you happen to sell the snakes you breed on your site as well. Others will then see these very controversial photos and they in turn will tell their friends. And to simplify things even more the owner of a second pet store posts a link on his site to your site that links directly to yours. As more and more people hear about your photos, more and more links to your site are created. The next thing you know your Organic Search Engine Optimization is well underway and you start to rank on the very first page of the search engines.
Also in addition to this the boosts in your rankings have led to the sale of nearly all of your saleable snakes. Controversy really can help you sell.

- The History of SEO
Organic Search Engine Optimization is the skill of making web pages more visible to internet search engines. Some online businesses consider Organic Search Engine Optimization to be the subset of search engine marketing.
In the mid-1990s the webmasters and search engine content writers started optimizing websites. At this time all the webmasters had to do was provide a URL to a search engine and a web crawler would be sent from the search engine. The web crawler would then extract a link from the webpage and use the information to index the page within the Search Engine by downloading the page and placing it on the search engines server. Once the page was stored on the search engines server a second system, called an indexer would extract further information from this webpage. This information would then be used to determine the relevancy of specific words to this page. When this was complete the page would then be ranked accordingly.
It didn't take very long for people to realise the benefits of being ranked high.
In the early days search engines used search algorithms that webmasters provided about their web pages. And as always with things that are loosely controlled it didn't take the webmasters very long to start abusing the whole process which then brought on the need for search engines to develop a more sophisticated form of Organic Search Engine Optimization. The search engines developed a unique system that considered several factors; domain name, title text, URL directories, term frequency, HTML tags, on page key word proximity, Alt attributes for images, on page keyword adjacency, text within NOFRAMES tags, web content development, sitemaps, and on page keyword relevancy.
Google then developed a better concept of evaluating web pages called PageRank. PageRank weighs a web page's quantity and quality based on the pages incoming links. This Organic Search Engine Optimization method was so successful that Google quickly began to enjoy successful word of mouth and great praise.
To help prevent abuse of these rules by webmasters, several internet search engines, such as Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and Ask.com, refuse to disclose their algorithms to the public. The signals used today in Organic Search Engine Optimization typically are; keywords in the title, link popularity, keywords in links pointing to the page, PageRank (Google), Keywords that appear in the visible text, links from on page to the inner pages, and placing relevant text line at the top of the page.
For the most part registering a webpage or website to most search engine is a straight forward task. All Google requires is a link from a site already indexed and the web crawlers will visit the site and begin to review its contents. Normally a few days after registering on the search engine the main search engine will begin to index the website.
Some search engines will guarantee indexing for a small fee. These search engines do not guarantee specific ranking for this fee also webmaster's who don't want web crawlers to index certain files and directories use a standard robots.txt file. This file is located in the root directory. Occasionally a web crawler will still review a page even if the webmaster has indicated he does not wish for this page to be indexed.

- The Foundation of Organic Search Engine Optimizati
In the ninth century a Persian mathematician introduced algebraic concepts and Arabic numerals whilst working in Baghdad for the international centre for scientific study. His process of performing arithmetic with Arabic numerals was called algorism. In the eighteenth century the name evolved into algorithm. Algorithms are a finite set of carefully defined instructions. These Algorithms are a set of procedures that are used for accomplishing certain tasks which will end in a defined state. Algorithms are used across the board in linguistics, computers, and mathematics.
Many would like to think of algorithms as the steps in a well written recipe. Provided you follow each step of the recipe right down to the smallest detail and you will have an edible dinner. As long as you follow each step of the algorithm you will find the proper solution. Small easy algorithms can be used to design complex algorithms from the ground up.
All PC’s use algorithms as a “the” method to process information, they are created with algorithms (or series of algorithms) that give the PC a list of instructions to follow. PC’s will normally read data from an input device when using an algorithm to process information. In order to be successful these algorithms need to be carefully defined for a PC to read them. The designers have a few things to consider and will need to cover every possible scenario that could arise. They must then set up a series of algorithms to account for all these problems. Programmers have to be very careful not to change the order of the instructions as PC’s cannot cope with an algorithm that is in the wrong order or place. A flow of control refers to how the list of algorithms must start at the top and go all the way to the bottom, along the way following every single step.
Some terms that are used to describe algorithms include natural languages, flow diagrams, pseudo-code, and other programming languages. Natural expression algorithms are generally only seen in simple algorithms. Computers generally use programming languages that are intended for expressing algorithms.
There are different ways to class algorithms. Firstly by a specific type of algorithm. Types of algorithms include recursive and interactive algorithms, deterministic and non-deterministic algorithms, and approximation algorithms. The second method used to classify algorithms is by their design methodology or their paradigm. A typical paradigm is “divide and conquer”, which is the greedy method, linear programming, dynamic programming, search and enumeration, reduction and heuristic paradigms. Different areas of scientific study have differentiated algorithms into classifications. They are classified to make their field as efficient as possible. Some different types of algorithms and different scientific field uses include; search algorithms, merge algorithms, string algorithms, combinatorial algorithms, cryptography, sorting algorithms, numerical algorithms, graph algorithms, computational geometric algorithms, data compression algorithms, and parsing techniques.
Internet search engines use algorithms to aid in Organic Search Engine Optimization. Google's website crawlers use a link analysis algorithm scan and index webpages from there they will then rank these webpages accordingly. In an attempt to prevent webmasters from using underhanded schemes to influence Organic Search Engine Optimization, many internet search engines disclose as little about the algorithms they use in their optimization techniques.
